East Carolina Cruises and Gators Chomp Canes
The second week of college football is complete and it was full of surprises. Here are three teams on the rise after the weekend.
Three Up
East Carolina Pirates 2-0
Two weeks, two upsets of ranked teams. Last week ECU stunned Virginia Tech and this week the Pirates pounded #8 West Virginia 24-3. These guys are a legitimate team and look like a team that could sneak into a BCS bowl this winter. ECU manhandled WVU behind QB Patrick Pinkney. This team is for real and should now be taken seriously.
#18 Oregon Ducks 2-0
The Ducks destroyed Utah St. 66-24 yesterday and displayed their juggernaut of an offense. Oregon used three QBs and had three RBs with more than 10 carries. 688 yards of total offense for the Ducks as well. This team is on the rise.
Vanderbilt Commodores 2-0
Vandy is in the loaded SEC, but defeated #24 ranked South Carolina at home on Thursday. Vandy is one of those scary teams for the big dogs in the ! SEC to worry about this season.
The main event game this week was #5 Florida versus Miami (FL). It was a very close game the majority of the way, but the Gators pulled away and won 26-3. The Florida offense still looks flat, but the defenses' domination is a good sign for the Gators. The biggest knock on UF this season was their D and it looks solid.
